Your experiences of treatment for advanced prostate cancer

We are reaching out to you on behalf of the University of Aberdeen who would like to ask you if you are willing to be interviewed about your experiences of treatment for advanced prostate cancer as part of the PIONEER project.

Prostate cancer is an important and growing health problem worldwide. Advanced prostate cancer can be treated in a number of different ways and it is currently unclear which treatment is the most effective. This is due to the lack of good evidence on which to base current treatment decisions, mainly because the outcomes reported from studies are not standardized.

The purpose of this project is to develop a standardised set of outcomes for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer which are important to all healthcare professionals, researchers and patients in order to optimise decision-making (i.e. core outcomes)

You are under no obligation to take part in this or any other research, doing so would be strictly voluntary and you can choose to withdraw at any point.  If you do choose to take part in our study, this will be recorded and may take approximately one hour depending on the information you wish to share.

 Is this something you would be interested in and would like to know more about it? A detailed information leaflet is attached.  This explains why the study is being done and what you would need to do if you were willing to take part in it.

We would like to stress that you are under no obligation to be interviewed. Whether or not you decide to be interviewed will not affect the care you receive.

Eturauhassyöpätutkimuksia

Ensimmäinen tutkimus on potilaille, joilla PSA on alkanut nousta aiemmin hoidetun eturauhassyövän jälkeen, mutta mitään metastasointia ei ole tiedossa.

Toiseen tutkimukseen etsitään potilaita, joilla on metastasoinut ja edennyt, kastraatioresistentti eturauhassyöpä, mutta mitään hoitoja ei saisi vielä olla alla sen jälkeen kun tauti on todettu kastraatioresistentiksi.
